NemCo keeps the future in mind with its packaging.  Through our forward-thinking, responsible approach to a serious environmental problem, we have helped to divert thousands of tonnes of plastics from landfills.

In response to our concern about environmental degradation, Nemco created Manitoba's first "full-circle" plastics recycling operation.  It was able to divert up to 450,000 kg of plastic from landfill sites each year by producing 100% recycled high density polyethylene (HDPE) resin.

We began the process in August 1993 and operated the plant until it was sold in September 2000.  In that time we diverted more than 4.5 million kilograms of used containers from landfill sites, and turned them into new plastic containers. Our process successfully creates new containers that use 95 percent "post consumer resin", or recycled plastic.  We produce plastic bottles for our entire range of lubricants and automotive chemicals.

We still use recycled plastic resin in our bottles and continue to recycle lower-grade plastic for use in extrusion of products such as, crates and fence posts.

We're not the only ones who think that recycling plastic containers is a good idea.   In 1994, we won the Manitoba Sustainable Development Award of Excellence, small business category, for our innovative containers.
